Analysis of the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Metz
Metz has a chance to temporarily climb out of the bottom spot in Ligue 1 if they secure a win on Sunday morning at Parc des Princes against PSG, who are eager to reclaim the top spot. A 1-3 defeat to Rennes dropped the defending champions to second place, while Metz remains at the bottom after a similar loss at home to Auxerre.
PSG, after leading the table for three consecutive rounds, slipped to second last week and suffered their first away defeat in Ligue 1 since 2026. Under coach Luis Enrique, the capital club had won six consecutive home games at Parc des Princes in the league, conceding just one goal during that streak.
In the 2025/26 season, PSG has recorded four home wins by a margin of three goals or more, including a dominant 5-0 victory over their historic rivals Marseille in their most recent home match. Ahead of matchweek 23, they trail Lens by one point but could reclaim first place if they win this game and Lens drops points against Monaco.
Recent victories, such as the 3-2 comeback win over Monaco at Louis II in the first leg of the 2025/26 Champions League play-off, give PSG confidence to aim for a convincing win over Metz.
